What’s Best for Your Home?

Combination Boilers

Combination boilers (or combi boilers) heat water straight from the mains supply when the tap is turned on, eliminating the need for a hot water cylinder or storage tanks.

As a result, combi boilers are ideal for smaller homes and apartments. They are also highly energy-efficient since water is not continuously heated and stored, but rather heated on demand. Another advantage of combi boilers is that they often produce hot water at mains pressure, which is ideal for individuals who want a strong shower! However, when more than one tap is operating at the same time, pressure may be lowered.

Conventional Boilers

Conventional boilers (also known as conventional, Heat Only, or normal boilers) are attached to a separate hot water cylinder and require room in the loft for two storage tanks: one to serve the hot water system and one to feed the central heating.

These are best suited to older houses with outdated radiator systems that may not be able to withstand high pressure. They are also suitable for households with two or more bathrooms when a large amount of hot water is utilized at the same time. When the supply runs out, it may take some time for the tank to replenish and hot water to flow again.

System Boilers

System boilers still require a hot water storage cylinder, but the primary heating components are incorporated within the boiler, making installation simple.

These boilers still require a cylinder (which is unvented), but no storage or header tanks are required. System boilers are inexpensive to operate and can offer a consistent hot water supply to all of your home’s taps at the same time, which is ideal for busy homes!
